Materials for chalk painting will be provided at the Gathering to inspire the visual artist in all members of the family.
Music to listen or dance to will be provided by Sol Jibe.
Sol Jibe serves up a spirited blend of world acoustic music flavored with violin and a picante flamenco spice. Their foot-stomping soul-stirring good sound is influenced by multiple nationalities and musical genres that transcends borders and tastes.
Their energy is just engaging and their appeal transcends generations. Plumas Arts hosted them for a school residency program a couple of years ago and they were an extraordinary hit. "I will never forget seeing teachers and students on the Quincy High gym floor dancing together. It was magic. I knew I was in the right place at the right time," recalls Plumas Arts Director, Roxanne Valladao.
Sol Jibe is currently on a well deserved rising star. The band has a busy schedule touring around the U.S. They have also secured featured spots at the High Sierra and other national summer music festivals.
Plumas Arts (formerly know as the Plumas County Arts Commission) was established in 1981 as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, private public benefit corporation that serves as the local arts planning and programming agency for Plumas County. Since its inception, Plumas Arts has been authorized by the Plumas County Board of Supervisors to serve as the Plumas County representative to the California Arts Council's State-Local Partnership Program ranking consistently as one of California's model local arts agencies.
Plumas Arts provides programs for art education in our county schools, coordinates the Plumas County cultural events calendar; manages a gallery featuring work by regional artists; produces the annual Taste of Plumas, Almanor Art Show, Mountain Harvest Festival, and monthly Words & Music (currently in three county locations) and brings world class performers to the Town Hall Theatre in Quincy; which is also managed by Plumas Arts as a successful first run feature and art film business and community performance venue.
We also operate in partnership with numerous other cultural groups throughout Plumas County, weaving a cultural infrastructure that has become one of the most attractive assets of our beautiful, rural mountain homestead.
Plumas Arts is one of the largest membership organizations in Plumas County. Families, businesses, individuals and agencies make annual cash investments in Plumas Arts. Members cross over geographical, political, philosophical, religious and ethnic boundaries to support the work of Plumas Arts and the essential activities they provide to the county.
